Duward Lee Worley Godfrey - Duward Lee Worley, 98, died at 9:37 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Liberty Village in Jerseyville. He was born January 18, 1926 in Greene County, IL the son of the late Lee and Mildred (Piper) Worley. Duward served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Telamon. He studied music at Shurtleff College. Duward was a talented vocalist, singing in church choirs, weddings or for anyone that would ask him to sing. He was the founding member of the Alton Barber Shoppers. He sang in his first high school musical at the age of 82 when Marquette Catholic High School asked his quartet group to perform in The Music Man. Duward was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ and a member of the VFW. He retired from Shell Oil Company in 1985 after 38 years of service. On May 1, 1949 in Alton, he married Evelyn Darline Whited. They were married for 71 years before she passed away on May 18, 2020. Surviving are one son David Worley (Diane) of Godfrey, five grandchild
